ONE OF MY TURNS

(Waters)

Pink, disgusted with his treatment of a groupie, and at the same time saddened by his wife’s infidelity and the disintegration of their marriage, throws a wobbly, trashing his hotel room…

The uncredited rhythm guitar was by Lee Ritenour, because, as David Gilmour put it, he “couldn’t think of a good part to play”. The groupie’s voice was originally to be provided by Roger Waters. Thankfully, Bob Ezrin found a woman, Trudy Young, willing to re-do the part. Ezrin also plays keyboards. The song was a surprising choice for the B-side of the ‘Another Brick…’ single.

The original CD indexed this as two tracks, breaking as the mood suddenly changes midway through, while a typographical error on the label of some copies names the track – truthfully enough – as ‘One Of My Tunes’!

During the film, The Dambusters plays on Pink’s television at this point. The destructive rage was apparently inspired by a Roy Harper tantrum, backstage at the Knebworth Festival in 1975.
